The number one form of entertainment in people's homes is watching television. Despite a strong challenge from computers the television has remained popular because it's simple to use and most programs are fun to watch. The television has come a long way in recent years and advances in technology allow people to watch their favourite programs in high definition. Enhanced colour and a sharper picture both add to peoples viewing pleasure as does a more sophisticated speaker system, allowing people to watch movies in surround sound. The television screen has seen the most improvement and people have lots of choice when they want to choose a television with a clear picture.
If someone is interested in buying a LCD TV it may have to be delivered. This is because they're usually quite large and so a shop has to take responsibility for getting the product safely from the store to someone's home. This means that most retailers need to have delivery vans on standby so customers aren't kept waiting for too long. These vans have to run on petrol and this is becoming increasingly expensive. This is due to taxation and the rise in global oil prices. People that own petrol stations have a certain amount of control over the prices that they charge but to stay profitable they need to stay competitive. Running a petrol station isn't easy but the people that do run them are always likely to make a profit because everyone needs fuel to get around.
